Price-gouging homes remain an ever-present problem for the working class, with more and more people struggling to please greedy landlords. 1. Tiny House Village- Albuquerque, New Mexico
Look no further than the Tiny Home Village of New Mexico for a transitional housing program, meant to help struggling people get on their feet and towards a more stable and sustainable living situation. 2. LuxTiny Tiny House Village- Lakeside, Arizona.
Owner Steve Dedmon created LuxTiny in 2013 under the inspiration of affordability. With neighborhood home costs averaging four or five hundred thousand dollars, Dedmon sought to create a community that was more achievable for the working class. Despite the stubborn red tape, Dedmon managed to successfully beat the county criticism and complete a community where residents only pay up to $419 a month, including water, sewer, and trash- what a dream! Dedmon wants people’s spaces to be their own, encouraging residents to grill, garden, and whatever they like to help them feel at home.

3. Escalante Tiny House Village- Durango, Colorado
Bob Lieb describes himself as “one of those people that wake up in the middle of the night and think too much.” This “too much” thinking led to Escalante Tiny House Village, the brainchild of Lieb’s previously bought property and his experience in creating affordable housing programs. With the support of his local government, Lieb overcame the lack of experience Durango has regarding mobile homes and created a community that sits six thousand, five hundred twelve feet high. “The beauty of it,” Lieb says, “is rural type existence in a metropolitan area.”

4. Acony Bell Tiny House Village- Mills River, North Carolina

They brought in property maintainer Paul, and the adventure began. Despite state code refusing to view tiny homes as permanent, the trio was lucky enough to be building in a specific jurisdiction of town that allowed them to fulfill their dream. In 2018, they opened Phase 1: twenty-two units, including eight vacation homes. As of 2021, they plan to open another eighteen units.

5. Tiny House Village- Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

But she and her team wanted to do more with it- what should they do to “make it a ‘win-win’” for Elizabethtown? Enter the idea of tiny homes, and the fifteen homes were rented out. In 2020, the never-ending COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench into the rental scene, so Shank and her team switched to an ownership-based community that functions more like a mobile-home park.
